English Premier League Managerial Changes for the 2025-26 Season

A picture of all new managers in the Premier League for 2025-2026 season, including Thomas Frank, Scott Parker, Keith Andrews, Daniel Farke and Regis Le Bris.

Well, it’s only one more day until the 2024-2025 Premier League season starts. We hope you’re excited as we are! It seems like it has been a long time since we’ve watched the Premier League and we’re so grateful it is back.

It’s a short article this week. We’re just going to touch briefly on some new faces that will be in the dugout come the start of the season. If you haven’t already picked up, we’re talking about some changes in Premier League Managers.

New Managers in the 2025-26 Premier League Season

When focusing on the 17 teams that were in the Premier League last season (2024-2025), there are only two teams with a new manager.

Firstly is Tottenham, who sacked Ange Postecoglou on June 6, 2025 and then employed Thomas Frank less than a week later on June 12, 2025. As I’m sure you know, Thomas Frank was the previous Manager of Brentford.

Postecoglou was in charge of Tottenham from July 1, 2023 to June 6, 2025. His record in all competitions (not just Premier League) was 47 wins, 15 draws and 39 losses out of the 101 games he managed (46.5% win percentage).

Ange Postecoglou guided Tottenham to a 5th place finish in the Premier League in the 2023-2024 season but a disappointing 17th place (one place off relegation) last year in the 2024-2025 season. However, as I’m sure you’ll remember, Tottenham won the Europa League last year, so there was a silver lining on their poor league performance.

Thomas Frank managed Brentford from October 16, 2018 to June 12, 2025, almost 7-years in the job. In all competitions, Frank oversaw 317 games for Brentford with a 41.6% win percentage. The breakdown of games included 132 wins, 77 draws, and 108 losses.

Thomas Frank oversaw 317 Brentford games in all competitions, with a 41.6% win rate, before moving to Tottenham.

Frank famously guided Brentford to promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2020-2021 season and they have remained in the Premier League ever since. As noted in a previous article we wrote (linked here), staying in the Premier League after being promoted is no easy feat.

In the last two seasons, all three newly promoted teams have been relegated back to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League. Starting in the 2021-2022 season, Brentford’s position in the league table has been 13th, 9th, 16th, and 10th under Thomas Frank’s guidance.

Keith Andrews was previously Brentford’s set piece coach and as a result of Thomas Frank’s move, was promoted to head coach of Brentford on June 27, 2025. To our understanding, this is Andrews’ first role as the head coach.

He’s had previous spells as assistant coaches for Milton Keynes Dons and Republic of Ireland national team, and part of the background staff at Sheffield United. It will be interesting to watch Brentford’s progress in the 25-26 season under Keith Andrews.

Managers of Newly Promoted Clubs – Burnley, Leeds, Sunderland

We’ll also quickly touch on the newly promoted teams.

Scott Parker is managing Burnley, he was appointed back in July 2024 and guided Burnley back to the Premier League at the end of last season. Since taking on the role, Parker’s win percentage at Burnley has been 60% which includes 30 wins, 16 draws and only 4 losses from the 50 games he has managed.

Burnley have been bouncing back and forth between the Championship and Premier League for the last four seasons. Is Scott Parker the right man for the job to guide Burnley to back-to-back seasons in the Premier League?

Daniel Farke has managed Leeds United since taking over in July 2023. Farke took Leeds to the play-off final in the 2023-2024 season but ultimately missed out on promotion after losing the Southampton in the play-off final.

Leeds won the Championship last season and earned automatic promotion to the Premier League. Across all competitions, Daniel Farke’s record is 61 wins, 25 draws, and 18 losses over a total of 101 games (58.7% win percentage).

Last but not least is Sunderland’s Regis Le Bris, who took on the role as Sunderland manager starting in July 2024. Le Bris guided Sunderland to promotion back to the Premier League at the end of last season after beating Sheffield United in a play-off final.

In all competitions for Sunderland, Regis Le Bris’ record was a 45.1% win percentage, which over 51 games, totaled 23 wins, 14 draws and 14 losses.

Longest-Serving Managers in the Premier League

Lastly, we thought it would be interesting to provide a quick graph that shows all 20 Premier League managers and the length of time they’ve been in their current role.

As you can see below, Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has been the longest serving manager of the 20 current Premier League teams by a long shot. As of August 14th, he’s been at the club for over 9.5-years. The second longest serving is Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, who has been at the club for about 5.7-years (about 60% of the time of Pep).

At the other end of the spectrum are Keith Andrews and Thomas Frank, who are the shortest serving managers to date when looking at all 20 Premier League this 24-25 season. As of August 14th, Andrews has been in charge for only 0.13-years while Frank is close at 0.17-years.

On the whole when considering all 20 of the current Premier League managers, the average time in job is only 2.1-years. When considering that statistic, it speaks to the achievement of both Guardiola and Arteta, and their long-standing managerial position.

Followed closely behind Arteta are Marco Silva (Fullham) who is at 4.12-years and Eddie Howe (Newcastle) who is at 3.77-years.

Final Thoughts – Season Outlook – Who Will Be the First to Go?

Well, that’s it for this article. In this post, we take a look the English Premier League’s newest managers in the 2025-2026 season.  Three new managers join the league this season from the promoted clubs Burnley, Sunderland and Leeds. There were only two managerial changes over the summer from the clubs remaining in the Premier League.

As outlined above, we also see that Pep Guardiola is the current longest serving manager in the Premier League by a long way. And that the average time in job of the current 20 Premier League managers is only 2.1-years.

Which manager are you rooting for this year? Do you think the managers of the three newly promoted teams have what it takes to keep them in the Premier League for consecutive seasons? Any guesses on when the first manager sacking will be?

Last year, Erik ten Hag was the first manager to get sacked in the Premier League. He was sacked by Manchester United on October 28, 2024, after only about 2.5-months of the season.

Enjoy the first weekend of the 2025-2026 Premier League season. You can now take a sigh of relief; the Prem is back!
